What is your view
on supplements?
When I was training, I rarely
took supplements for fear
of cross-contamination but
it’s changed now, so many
companies are offering
products that are certified to
be free of banned substances.
Are there certain ones that
are ‘must-haves’ for you?
Protein powder (either a New
Zealand sourced isolate, or
sprouted vegan), Instantized
BCAA’s for intraworkout,
Glutamine (Japanese grade),
Creatine (German grade – look
for the “creapure” logo).
Grocery Cart Staples
Almond/coconut milk
Lean ground beef & fish
Coconut oil
Hemp & flax seed
Rolled oats
From a nutritional perspective what would you do to
get the most out of your
strength training?
When I wake up, a bagel with
peanut butter and banana
slices, a 30g protein shake
and a scoop of creatine and
glutamine 30 minutes prior to
my workout. During training
I use a BCAA intraworkout mix
in my water. After training I’ll
take 30g of protein. I prefer a
multi stage release protein and
I start sipping on it before
I leave the gym.
