FOREWORD: ISSUE 104 In this issue of HSE International: W elcome to our Transport Safety special issue, featuring exclusive content from Road Safety GB and RoSPA. Continuing our coverage of the RoSPA Awards 2016, we present our cover story - a conversation with Phillip Price, SHE Manager of RoSPA Gold Award winners, ABC Electrification Ltd. A joint venture between Alstom, Babcock and Costain, ABC is one of four suppliers who will deliver a 10 year, Network Rail programme, seeing the electrification of more than 3,000km of railways and is one of the largest electrification contractors in the UK. Phillip commented: “To win the award is a great honour and demonstrates to our client, Network Rail, that we are passionate about health and safety. We are continually improving and this is reflected in our health and safety statistics. We are doing things the right way as well as complying with health and safety legislation and industry standards. “It is our role to prevent, at all costs, any fatalities or life changing injuries. My role is to ensure that everyone works safely and gets home safely. That is my top priority.” We also speak to international RoSPA winners, Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd. and Pentas Flora Sdn. Bhd, respectively. Megamas was the first integrated safety training provider registered in Brunei, and has evolved into a dynamic and reputable company that successfully delivers complete Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Training and Consultancy Solutions to a wide client base within the Asia Pacific region. In addition to a Silver Award, Roger Ainsworth, Executive Adviser also won this year’s RoSPA Guardian Angel Award. Pentas Flora is a pioneering scheduled waste management business based in Malaysia that is focused on producing ecological re-refined oil products as optional fuels for industrial use. Having attained the RoSPA Bronze Award in 2015, the company advanced this success by achieving the RoSPA Silver Award this year. We also present an introductory article from British Tinnitus Association and in addition, our regular column with Alan Murray, CEO of the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF), is bolstered by features from BSIF members JSP Ltd, Sundström Safety AB and Pyramex Safety Products.
