From the Counselor
to the Class of 2015
By: Bekir Atas
My role as a counselor is
to provide you with quality,
dedicated advice and
guidance. My mission at
Harmony is to prepare
each high school student
for higher education by
giving
them
great
intellectual promise and
opportunity to reach their
maximum potential in their
college and future career.
My vision is that every
student will leave HSD
college and career ready
with the knowledge, skills
and confidence to effectively identify, select, plan,
and prepare for college. In
order to achieve that, I
have been busy meeting
with all of you, both individually and as a group, to
help you prepare for life
after
high
school.
I strongly recommend you
thoughtfully develop a program of study beyond high
school that will help you
achieve your goals to be
well-educated to explore
and develop your own
interests and abilities.
I wholeheartedly wish you
good luck in your future
career and life.
Savage Seniors of HSD
By: Michael Cassel
This is the first Harmony School of
Discovery Senior Interview for HSD
NewsFlash! This year is Harmony’s
Fifth Year Anniversary, but it is also
our senior’s final year with us. Before we send them off to college I
think it’s important to ask them
about their HSD experiences, memories, and advice. These questions
serve not only to end our year on a
high note, but to give our seniors
one more chance to say goodbye to
HSD.
Ankit Nanda, otherwise
known as Sim Bhullar,
has been at Harmony
for five years. Some
students consider him to
be one of the kindest
and funniest seniors in the school.
When asked what his favorite HSD
memory was, he replied with, “Our
senior trip to Los Angeles. It was an
unforgettable memory that I got to
spend with all my friends.” When
Ankit was asked what he will miss the
most from HSD, he responded with, “I
won’t miss my friends, cuz they’re my
family”. What a profoundly deep quote
that brings tears to my eyes.
Another graduating senior,
Walee Khan, has wisdom
to share. Khan, otherwise
known as Bundukhan, has
been at Harmony for five
years. He is widely regarded as the strangest and craziest person at HSD. When asked for the best
advice you could give a freshman, he
replied with, “Never turn down a favor,
because then they’ll owe you one”.
When Walee was asked what he
would do differently if he started high
school over, he responded with, “Pay
attention. No matter how boring the
class or teacher is.” That’s a life lesson that I couldn’t agree more with.
