Chris Porritt leads the second Allcomers race

The Club ’ s racing season ended with the annual Walter Hayes Trophy meeting at Silverstone in early November . Once again , several allcomers races supported the main activity of the Formula Ford 1600 knock-out event . Victories in the HSCC Allcomers races went to Tony Hunter ( Renault Clio ) and Chris Porritt in his Thundersports Chevron B19 . Young American Max Esterson won the overall WHT final while a magnificent performance from Ben Mitchell put an HSCC member on the third step of the podium .
Young Samuel Harrison won a thrilling Carl Hamer Trophy for the pre ’ 82 FF1600 final , just edging Richard Tarling and Ed Thurston in a blanket finish . Cam Jackson was third in the Janet Cesar Trophy for Pre ’ 93 FF1600s , right behind Brandon McCaughan and Ben Tinkler .

Formula Atlantic to feature with HSCC in 2022

The Club will run several stand-alone Formula Atlantic races in 2022 , starting with a double-header meeting on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit during the Club ’ s season-opening meeting on April 2 / 3 . The races for the 1600cc single seaters of the 1970s and early 1980s will be planned to complement the HSCC Historic Formula 2 Series , which is
also home to Formula B and Formula Atlantic cars from 1967 to 1978 .
There is a growing number of Formula Atlantic cars now being rebuilt and reprepared for racing and prime-mover Iain Rowley reports constant interest from prospective racers . “ I ’ ve had an amazing few days recently with four more new Atlantic owners and drivers contacting me ,” said Rowley , who

A class structure for the series has been planned , covering the early twincam Formula B and Formula Atlantics from the formative years in the US and the start of the category in the UK in 1971 right through to the Ford Cosworth BDD-engined cars of the later 1970s and mid-1980s .
Andy Dee-Crowne said : “ We ’ re very pleased to confirm our first Formula Atlantic date for 2022 and are looking to add one or two more UK dates . We see this as a perfect complement to our Historic F2 Series , which will return to a pan-European schedule in 2022 . The Atlantic cars look and sound superb and it is fitting to have the first race at Brands Hatch , where Formula Atlantic made its UK debut 51 years earlier .”
