Club re-affirms live-snatch policy

The Club has re-affirmed its commitment to not using live-snatching during its qualifying sessions and races . Live-snatching is the process of using tractors to remove cars from gravel traps while the qualifying session or race continues , with yellow flags at the site of the incident . For the last three years the HSCC has not used this option and that policy has been renewed for the 2022 season .
There has been recent media focus , notably in Autosport , on the topic of live snatching and the possible risk involved for both officials and competitors . The Club ’ s policy remains that it will not use livesnatching to move cars , preferring to deploy the safety car or to red flag the session or race as necessary .
CEO Andy Dee-Crowne , who is also a senior clerk of the course , said : “ This was a decision that we took three years ago and I ’ m pleased to re-affirm that , once more , we will not use live-snatching during any of its race meetings in 2022 . We place a very high emphasis on the safety of all those involved in our events and this on-going decision underlines that commitment .”

Morgan joins Board

The voting period for the Nominated Directors to sit on the HSCC Board for 2022 was completed in early December . The results were independently checked and it was confirmed that Ted Pearson , Kevin Kivlochan and Hugh Colman have been re-elected and will be joined by Alan Morgan who will take up his position on 1 January 2022 . Andy Dee-Crowne said : “ May I thank all the candidates and congratulate Ted , Kevin , Hugh and Alan on their appointment . I would also like to record a special thank you to Andrew Warner for his service to the Board in 2021 and his help with Dunlop Saloon Car Cup over the last few years .” n Regular HSCC racers Mike Fry , Chris Snowdon and father and son Ross and Nick Hyett finished 12th overall and third in the Sports 2000 class in the Les 2 Tours d ’ Horloge at Paul Ricard in November . They tackled the 24-hour race for historic cars in a 1984 Tiga SC83 , entered as Equipe Rosbif , and Fry reported that it was an excellent event in its first running since 2014 .
n HSCC racer David Tomlin switched back to rallying for the recent Roger Albert Clark Rally in his historic specification Ford Escort Mk2 . The five-day marathon in the forests of England , Scotland and Wales was hit by Storm Arwen , which left some crews stranded in Northumberland overnight . Tomlin and co-driver Keith Ashley eventually reached the finish in Carmarthen in 54th place of the 78 historic finishers .
