Seaman raises over £ 10,000 for Race against Dementia
Historic single seater and sports car racer Steve Seaman successfully completed a charity challenge in early June when he drove his 1927 Bentley on a lap of every race circuit in England and Wales . HSCC member Seaman was raising money for the Race against Dementia charity in memory of his late father . Across five and a half days , he visited 16 tracks and relevant venues with the Bentley four and a half litre . As well as all 14 active circuits in England and Wales , he also visited Brooklands in Surrey and Llandow in South Wales , finishing at Oulton Park on Wednesday 5 June . The Bentley covered 1356 miles , with fellow racer Adam Bagnall as co-driver .
Seaman said : “ The star of the tour has to be the Bentley . Apart from one oil leak , which just needed a spanner , she took it all in her stride . Many thanks go to the circuit staff who did everything possible to make it work . I hope this encourages more people to use old cars as they were designed to be used .”
l Everyone at the HSCC was sad to learn of the death of historic racer David Bain at the age of 71 after a short illness . Bain raced extensively in Clubmans before a break and later returned to the sport in Formula Junior . He then switched back to racing a Mallock , this time an earlier Mk11B for Classic Clubmans . When not racing , Bain was a keen supporter of events , notably hillclimbs .
