FEATURE : NEW FOR 2021
Shaun Hollamby will race in CF3 in the ex-Langridge car

Welcome to the newcomers

We start the year in anticipation that perhaps it will be the racing we remember this year for , rather than the inventive ways we kept ourselves motivated during the period of lockdown , says Alan Jones .
Historic Formula Ford It ’ s been a relatively quiet start to the Formula Ford season , but we have some changes . We welcome Mark Carter who replaces Pierre Livingston in the Classic Team Merlyn garage . Samuel Harrison has the Catnic Elden Mk8 and Shaun Hollamby has a Jamun T3 . Scott Rawlinson , who did one event with us last year , has joined for a full season racing a Merlyn Mk11a that had been given a few outings by Callum Grant .
For some , lockdown was quite a productive period in that they finally got to finish those projects at the back of the garage and could start thinking about putting them on track . It is early in the year but a big thank you to all of you who are supporting the club and signing up for a full racing season . It is very pleasing to see the numbers growing daily , with new friends joining and old ones returning . So , let ’ s see what we have notice of so far .
80s Production Challenge We are pleased to say that we are going to launch this series in 2021 and initial response has been good for our fourevent season . We have 12 cars registered for the series at this time on the database with 12 more who have registered their interest . The broad spectrum of cars ranges a from Vauxhall Nova and a Ford Fiesta XR2 , to Alfa Romeo 75 , Volkswagen Golf GTI , Porsche 924 , 944 , to Ferrari Mondial . The series has a caretaker Chairman with Kevin Kivlochan operating the tiller to steer it through the initial season . Nic Strong has a host of cars which includes a Fiesta XR2 , a Toyota MR2 , along with a Rover SD1 and the Jaguar XJS that we hope Amy Shore will be racing again
this year following her Race at the Walter Hayes Trophy in November last year . The first new signee is Pierce Brynmor with an immaculate Peugeot 309 GTI . Nick Taylor has also registered his Ferrari Mondial T .
Aurora Trophy The signs are that there is continued interest in the Aurora Trophy , with many of the classes becoming trophy classes in their own right . Pre ’ 72 Formula 5000s will be racing for the Howden Ganley Trophy , the later Formula 5000s for the Tony Trimmer Trophy , whilst Formula Atlantic is racing for the Ray Mallock Trophy and Formula 2 for the Brian Henton Trophy . This fine list of honorees was assembled by Keith Norris who took over the running of Aurora when Frank Lyons stepped down for 2020 . Keith himself has not been idle . Having sold his Chevron B49 last year to Mike Lane , he is now busily preparing the ex-Ean Pugh McLaren M10B for the forthcoming season .
Classic Formula 3 Shaun Hollamby has acquired the championship-winning March 803 of Adrian Langridge . In the Formula Ford 2000 class we welcome Novice James Whitaker with a Reynard SF83 .
Historic Formula Ford 2000 There has been some movement of cars within the championship . Jason Redding has bought Pat Blakeney ’ s Delta T81 and Jonathan Rose from Historic Road Sports has acquired Paul Allen ’ s Reynard SF79 . Paul has joined his friend Jason in a Delta , the ex-Callum Grant car . We have a new member in Rob Sirrell who has bought David Wild ’ s Reynard SF78 . Anthony Denham has bought the late Mike Bell ’ s Delta T78 / 79 .
Geoff Lees Trophy For this year , the Geoff Lees Trophy cars will be supplementing the Aurora Trophy Grid . Registrations are now into double figures with eligible cars and we are aware of one preparer with several customer cars in build . With cars already on the high seas to join the series we look forward to a good start . One new registration is Stephen Williams ( Ralt RT31 ) while Rory Smith , the Formula Ford Festival winner , has decided this series will give him some experience of something a little more powerful and has acquired a Formula Atlantic Ralt RT4 . So many great cars are around at the moment , below the price of a Formula Ford in some cases . So , we
