hear and feel those great feelings. Squeeze your index finger and
thumb together whilst doing this (you may have heard of this
technique, which is called anchoring). After several times of
doing this just squeezing your index finger and thumb alone
should produce some positive and confident feelings. Use this
‘anchor’ when you are thinking about or in the situation you’d
like to have more confidence in.
2. Visual Mental Rehearsal: Think of a specific situation in
relation to your confidence. For example, if you’d like more
confidence in a social situation, imagine yourself there. See it as
if it was a movie, seeing yourself laughing and talking easily and
effortlessly with others. Visualise this as often as you can, and
you can even listen to some upbeat music so you feel good when
you’re imagining.
3. Get into the physiology of confidence: Think of someone
you know who is really confident. Vividly imagine how their
posture looks, how they carry themselves, how they walk and
talk, how loud they speak, how they sit, how they greet people.
Now, get yourself into consciously training your body to act in
the same way. Keep a mental check on yourself and change your
posture, your tone of voice, your body language. Just simple
changes can give you an instant confidence boost anywhere.
4. Eliminate self doubt through autosuggestion. You know
how powerful adverts are? Thats because they deliver a repeated
message which sinks into our unconscious mind. You can create
messages to yourself and continually reaffirm them when
visualising. It can be something as simple as ‘ I conduct my
presentation with ease and confidence’. You can say the phrase
out loud or imagine that you saying it to themselves and see
yourself feeling good.
5. Increase self esteem by focusing on appreciation. People
who have higher self esteem and self-worth usually have higher
levels of confidence, so when you visualise yourself in that
