I’ll explain how you can avoid them or at least deal with them when
it’s already ‘too late’.
Mistake #1 – You try to become your role model
You cannot become another human being. At least not physically. If
you try to become your role model you are bound to fail. You can
only adopt the abilities and the mindset of your role model.
You want to be a famous actor? Fine. You can do it. But you cannot
become Christian Bale. He’s already there. You can become
somebody who has a similar mindset and similar abilities but you
can never be him.
Mistake #2 – You force yourself to become somebody you can’t
connect with
Sometimes we dream about an alternate version of our lives and
forget about the big picture. Let’s say you picked an actor as your
role model and you find out that he’s been doing pornographic
movies in his early years. You do not have to copy this if you don’t
like it. It’s about the abilities and the mindset of your role model, it’s
not really about their specific (and personal) actions.
Mistake #3 – You adopt a ‘bad lifestyle’
In the beginning of this article I told you about a ‘good’ role model
and now I’m talking about a ‘bad’ lifestyle – whether you perceive
something as good or bad is your business and your business alone.
But when you begin to feel bad during your metamorphosis it’s very
likely that you’ve lost your track. It’s important to get back on track
otherwise the whole process would be pointless.
Just because your role model smokes 20 cigarettes per day that does
not mean that you have to adopt this behaviour as well. The secret to
