From 1954 to 1975 the DMZ of Vietnam
Once rated by National Geographic as one
to 1945, throughout the rein of the 13 emperors
of the Nguyen Dynasty. On this tour explore
some of the key ancient sites – set sail along
the Perfume River before discovering Thien Mu
Pagoda; the Imperial Citadel, the former royal
quarters within a walled fortress; and the tomb
of the Emperor Khai Dinh with its unique artwork
and mosaics made from glass and ceramic
fragments. You’ll also stop at a roadside village
to observe the making of cinnamon incense.

South acting as a buffer except for the fact that
it became one of the most militarised areas in
the world. Visit Dong Ha, the former base of
U.S Marines along with battlefields such as The
Rockpile and Khe Sanh – the scene of one of

War. You’ll also visit Vinh Moc Tunnels, once
used as bomb shelters. The experience is highly
informative if not haunting.

Drive to a handicraft village where Hue
tour through the countryside to the tile-roofed
Thanh Toan Bridge, built over two centuries
ago. Continue to the Imperial Citadel, modelled
after the Forbidden City in Beijing and built in
the early 19th century. After lunch, explore
Ho Quyen Arena where tigers and elephants
fought, gladiator style, for the benefit of the
royal family. Continue on to Thien Mu Pagoda,
Tu Duc’s Tomb and Vong Canh Hill - the best
place to catch a panoramic view of the Perfume
River and the Ho Quyen Arena.

Begin with a ride out to the Thien Mu Pagoda,
built more than 500 years ago. Returning to Hue
you will visit the Citadel - this impressive edifice
has a 10,000m circumference and is made up
of three ramparts. Following an exploration of
the Citadel, the next stop is the tombs of the
Emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Emperor Tu
Duc ordered his tomb to be built as a fairyland
full of poetic features, whilst Khai Dinh’s tomb
is a mixture of Western and Asian architecture.

Hue’s conical hat and witness the progress of
making a “Non La” (conical poem hat) – the
symbol of South East Asia. Each conical hat is

Hue or poems into the hat to make it distinct.

Enjoy an evening dedicated to traditional Hue
Explore Hue by cyclo – a three wheeled
Head to Paradise Cave, located inside the
food! By cyclo head to a local shop house to
discover Banh Beo – a popular cake snack of
Hue people. Continue on to a local restaurant
to try beef grilled in wild betel leaves as an
appetiser. You will be given a brief on Hue
cuisine, the origins and anecdotes. The next
delicacies to try are rustic family meals of grilled
pork on lemongrass skewers and crispy salted
pancakes. Walk to the next stop for mixed sweet
soups of Hue. End with a stop at a coffee shop
to taste Vietnamese coffee and enjoy live music.

Hue from a different perspective. Start your
adventure by passing through the south Huong
River area around the new Hue city. Next,
pass the river by Truong Tien Bridge; continue
on through the old Hue city. Stop for a visit to

to 1945. Continue by cyclo through the rest of
the old Hue city streets before returning back
to your hotel.

Park, about 230km northwest of Hue. Climb
near 500 steps to reach the cave entrance.
Inside spend time exploring the magnificent
scenery with the spectacular stalagmites
system. On route to the caves you will also stop
to visit La Vang Holy Land in Hai Lang District,
which contains the most valuable sculptural
works in the history of Vietnamese sculpture.
