Day 1: Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi. An English speaking local guide will meet you at your hotel for an orientation, explaining all about Vietnam, the best places to exchange money, recommended places to eat, to shop and explore. A short walk to Hoan Kiem Lake introduces you to one of Vietnam’ s most valuable lessons – how to cross the street when so many bicycles and motor scooters are rushing past! The evening is free to spend at leisure to further explore or to simply relax.
Day 2: Hanoi( B)
Today travel around this beautiful and fascinating city full of lakes, tree-lined boulevards and French colonial buildings. Your city tour begins with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Here learn all about the great leader, Ho Chi Minh and his love for his people. You’ ll also see the house where Ho Chi Minh lived very simply followed by the One Pillar Pagoda. Your last stop is Vietnam’ s first university – the Temple of Literature, rebuilt in 2000 with its main purpose to remind Vietnam youth to try to study as their ancestors did. The afternoon is free to spend at leisure to relax or shop.
Day 3: Hanoi( B)
Today tour arrangements end upon check out from your hotel.
Day 1: Hanoi – Ninh Binh( L, D)
Depart Hanoi for a two drive to Ninh Binh. Visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu and the remaining two temples of King Dinh and King Le. From here begin your cycling journey through the countryside to Tam Coc – a picturesque setting.( 16km ride) After lunch at a local restaurant, sit back and relax as you are rowed in a small bamboo boat through the rice fields, caves and mountain ranges- take in the beauty of the natural stunning landscape. Later this afternoon visit Bich Dong Cave Pagoda built in 1428. The evening is spent at leisure.
Day 2: Ninh Binh – Hanoi( B, L)
After breakfast drive to Phat Diem Stone Church, built between 1875 and 1899. Phuong Dinh Church, part of the Phat Diem complex, is a giant building entirely made of stone. Numerous stone sculptures are on the inside and outside walls. A large bell cast in the 1890s weighing nearly two tons is found in the bell tower. Enjoy lunch before driving to Gia Vien District, for a boat trip to the Kenh Ga Floating Village- accessible only by boat. Glide along the river and canals, weaving through the boathouses and fishing vessels of Kenh Ga- a unique experience combining the stunning backdrop of the limestone cliffs with an authentic floating village. Late afternoon return to Hanoi where tour arrangements end.
Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau( L, D)
Depart Hanoi travelling through the mountains to Mai Chau. Make photo stops along the way as well as short treks to visit some of the local villages of the Muong people. After lunch you will have the opportunity to walk around and continue to experience the lifestyle of the local villages. Your stop for the evening is at a traditional stilt-house in a village of the White Thai minority. Here you will enjoy a traditional dinner and a comfortable night’ s sleep – blankets and pillow provided.
Day 2: Mai Chau – Xa Linh – Ninh Binh( B, L, D)
Today rise early and transfer to the village of Xa Linh. Enjoy the beautiful valleys and peaceful scenery on the drive to Xa Linh which is home to the Red H’ mong and Blue H’ mong minority people. Return to Mai Chau for lunch before heading to Ninh Binh, considered Halong Bay‘ on land’. The evening is spent at leisure.
Day 3: Ninh Binh – Hanoi( B, L)
After breakfast, depart for Tam Coc where you will board a small boat. Relax as a local villager rows you through the rice fields and mountain ranges of this stunning region arriving at the historic Bich Dong Pagoda. Following lunch, take a scenic countryside drive to the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. Visit temples dedicated to heroes and dynastic founders from the 10th century. Continue on to Hanoi where tour arrangements end.
