Belize gained its independence in 1981 and is now an intriguing mix of Caribbean, Latin and Mayan ancestry. It would be easy to visit Belize and never leave the beaches or the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. The snorkelling and diving along Belize’s barrier reef are superb. But, almost hidden in the jungles are mysterious Mayan ruins – reminders of a sophisticated civilisation that once flourished here up to 4000 years ago. With so much to do, remember to fit in some relaxation on one of the many pristine white sand beaches. Day 5: Belize City After breakfast, fly to Belize City Airport where your arrangements end. Day 5: Cayo District – San Pedro, Ambergris Caye Fly to San Pedro, the afternoon is free to explore. Days 6-7: San Pedro, Ambergris Caye San Pedro is a picture perfect postcard town. Enjoy a half day snorkelling tour followed by time to explore or relax on the beach. Day 8: San Pedro – Belize City After breakfast, fly to Belize City Airport where your arrangements end.
