An expedition to the Ecuador Amazon jungle will take you in a dugout canoe or boat through its imposing yet peaceful rivers; Napo, Pastaza, Coca or Tigre. Located near the Andes, this part of the Amazon basin hosts one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world. Many species found here are still unknown to researchers and are quite possibly hidden deep in the dense tropical rainforest, right next to the trails you will be walking on. With huge areas of rainforest to cover, those with interests in natural history, ecology, tropical habitats, indigenous tribes, bird watching and jungle treks will come away from this visit completely astonished and fulfilled. Unique and interesting animals such as the sloth bear, honey bear, tapir, armadillo and pink dolphin await your impending visit.
Sacha Lodge 4 days / 3 nights
Sacha Lodge welcomes you to experience the various sounds of birds and howler monkeys that distinguish one of the few untouched places left on the planet. Cabins are constructed with high roofing to provide shade on the terraces and hammocks.
Day 1: Quito Airport – Coca You will be met at Quito Airport for your flight to Coca. Prepare for your exciting two hour river canoe ride towards Sacha Lodge. Following a small rainforest walk, you will arrive at Sacha Lodge. The next three nights are spent enjoying its surroundings and spectacular wildlife.
Days 2-3: The Ecuador Amazon Make the most of your Ecuador Amazon experience and hear the rainforest early in the morning. Sacha Lodge will offer many different excursions that will get you into the secluded areas. Professional native guides point out the many different species and medicinal plants that have been used by their people for hundreds of years. Ensure you spend the night time listening for nocturnal animals!
Day 4: Coca – Quito Airport Enjoy one last morning in this captivating environment before returning to Coca for your flight to Quito Airport, where your arrangements end.
La Selva Eco Lodge & Spa 4 days / 3 nights
La Selva is a wonderful luxury lodge surrounded by an abundance of wildlife. Cabanas are a rustic and authentic native design. The onsite hammock hut is popular for afternoon siestas, or spend time at the resident Butterfly Farm. Choose from a variety of rainforest and Amazon excursions including jungle hikes and bird watching.
Day 1: Quito Airport – Coca Take a quick 30 minute flight from Quito Airport to Coca. A two hour canoe ride down the river will start your Amazon experience before checking into La Selva Eco Lodge & Spa for a three night stay.
Days 2-3: The Ecuador Amazon Your first stop should be the observation tower, allowing you to see views over the beautiful rainforest which you are about to explore. Get close and personal to various animals on trail walks and hikes. With the help of a spotlight you ' ll enjoy a memorable canoe ride at night. Pay a visit to the nearest clay lick, one of the most fascinating and colourful displays of the wild world.
Day 4: Coca – Quito Airport Spend the morning doing one last final activity, before returning to Coca for your flight to Quito Airport.
