Salvador
Salvador da Bahia, or just simply Bahia as the locals call it, is a fascinating and vibrant city loaded with historic buildings. The centre of the sugar industry, Salvador was famous for gold-filled churches, beautiful mansions and the slave trade. The‘ Lower City’ is at sea level, containing the old port and commercial district where visitors will find a varied assortment of Brazilian arts and crafts at the Modelo Market.
