A perfect day in Niagara Falls
Y ou can’t miss Canada’s most iconic visitor experience. Niagara Falls
is spectacular by day or night and just a 2 hour drive south of Toronto,
right on the border of the USA. The best time to see the falls in all their
glory is mid-May to mid-September, however it does get crowded in the
peak July/August months.
To experience the incredible power and beauty of Niagara Falls get up
close and personal with a Hornblower Cruise. They’ll take you as close
as possible so don’t forget to pack a poncho. Or, take a walk behind the
thunderous Horseshoe Falls on a guided tour.
Feeling adventurous? Why not take a Zipline ride – a breath taking way
to see the American and Horseshoe Falls. Or simply take a stroll along
the riverfront to admire the falls at a more leisurely pace.
It must be time to eat and why not treat yourself to lunch with a view.
There are a number of restaurants offering spectacular views such as
the Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room and the Elements of the Falls
Restaurant.
If there is time explore a bit more of the Niagara region. Try your luck at
the Fallsview Casino, check out the Niagara Falls History Museum or for
some indoor thrills take on the waves at the Americana Waterpark. Don’t
forget to pick up that souvenir for the family back home or go bargain
hunting for yourself at the outlet mall, a short drive from the falls.

Niagara Sky Wheel – Enjoy a ride in this giant ferris wheel for a 53 metre
vantage point of the falls.
Niagara Falls Fireworks – If you’re in Niagara over the summer months
head to Queen Victoria Park for live entertainment and spectacular
fireworks. These are held on a Friday and Sunday (weather dependent).
Rainbow Bridge – For a different viewpoint, take the 10 minute walk across
to the U.S. side of the falls. Don’t forget your passport though as you do need
to clear U.S./Canadian immigration.
WeGo – Need to get around and don’t feel like walking? Jump on the WeGo
Niagara Falls Visitor Transport bus. With a few different lines to choose from
you can get around all the main points of interest without a car.
Skylon Tower Observation Deck – For some amazing views of the
American and Horseshoe Falls, head 233 metres up above the river at the
Skylon Tower.
Great Canadian Midway – Just one block from the falls you’ll find over
21,000 square metres of fun at the Great Canadian Midway entertainment
complex.
Golf – There are at least 40 golf courses in the Niagara region, including John
Daly’s Thundering Waters golf club located 1.5 kilometres from the falls.
Wineries – Did you know there are 56 wineries in the Niagara region?
Escape from the crowds and spend the afternoon sipping a Chardonnay at
one of the nearby wineries.
Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours – Choose from a ‘wet jet’ boat (prepare to
get soaked!) or ‘jet dome’ boat (the drier option) white water tour to
experience the majestic falls on a thrilling ride. Deep in the gorge you’ll
learn about the history of the Niagara area and have some unique photo
opportunities.
