In the 2013 film“ Her,” Joaquin Phoenix plays a despondent, introverted type whose character develops a relationship with an AI voiced by Scarlett Johansson. It is basically with him wherever he goes: literally connected through an earpiece. Calling the movie ahead of its time is fair:
