Whether direct booking programs give hoteliers more leverage in negotiations with OTAs can be argued either way and based on Hyatt Hotels Corp .' s last-minute deal with Expedia it seems to remain a bit volatile and certainly fluid . Basically though , distribution strategies are complicated and finding consensus is tough . HOTELS spoke with Marriott International , Red Lion and two distribution consultants to try to get some clarity on the beast known as direct booking .
