dominated by companies founded and nurtured by individuals — many with career roots in traditional hotels — who were looking to expose guests to a different way of experiencing a destination . Collective Retreats is one such entity . CEO Peter Mack founded the Colorado-based company in 2015 after serving as VP of product innovation at Tough Mudder , a lifestyle , events and media company , and following more than a decade at Starwood Hotels and Resorts .
