For instance , robes with a “ decorative but impossible to undo ” knot do not a happy bather make . Ditto guest room lighting , which has seen a trend lately of a one or two button push controlling all : an offering that in theory attempts to simplify the guest experience , but which in reality can result in one wrong button push and a blinding 2 a . m . bathroom run .

HILTON REVISES DO NOT DISTURB POLICY
hotelsm . ag / HiltonDoNotDisturb Around the same time that Walt Disney World announced that several of its resorts would no longer use “ Do Not Disturb ” signs , another major hotel company , Hilton , also acted in turn . For Hilton , that means new rules that team members should alert security or the duty manager if a sign remains on for more than 24 consecutive hours , a stark change from the past , where the company might have allowed multiple days to pass before an employee entered a room . A Hilton spokesperson said that the change in policy doesn ’ t necessarily mean a hotel will have someone enter guest rooms every 24 hours .

hotelsm . ag / MarriottChinaGaff Mistakes can be hard to grapple with , especially when they ’ re very public and involve another country , as Marriott International learned in January when it issued an apology to the Chinese government after a company loyalty program email listed Tibet and other Chinese territories as separate countries . Though the apology came swiftly , Marriott still faced an investigation by China into a possible violation of national cybersecurity and advertising laws as well as general social media , including calls to boycott the hotel giant .
