The vintage trend of mixing and matching patterns of glassware , flatware and dishware into a crazy quilt of colors and designs has been toned down into a “ loose elegance ,” Omni Scottsdale ’ s Mead says . “ It ’ s more playful , but it comes across as elegant and sophisticated .”

Natalie Park , catering manager of Provenance Hotels ’ Hotel deLuxe in Portland , Oregon , says metallic accents are taking center stage on wedding tables . “ From gold-leafed escort cards to mercury glass vases and votives , clients are looking for elevated touches without being overwhelming ,” she says . The art deco-tinged hotel ' s reception spaces , accented with gold leaf molding , chandeliers and etched mirror details , play up the trend , she says , adding , “ We have also seen mixed metallics this winter season . Assorted gold , silver and even copper details work well together in our spaces .”
