ALL THAT GLITTERS

METALLICS , MONOCHROME AND LAYERED EFFECTS LEAD THE WAY DOWN THE AISLE TO WEDDING TABLETOPS .

Everything is sparkling ,” says Traci Mead , of the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia , of the weddings that she has managed recently . Mead is director of catering at the Spanish-style resort in Scottsdale , Arizona , nestled at the base of Camelback Mountain , which provides a backdrop for outdoor nuptials . The hotel hosts about 50 weddings a year , with the milder temperatures making spring and autumn months the most popular .

Mead says she is composing wedding tabletops with multiple layered textures but tending toward monochromes , particularly blush pink . What else ? Metal – lots of it , particularly rose gold flatware and accessories . Metal might show up on a table in the form of a “ bling placemat ” or sequined silver or gold tablecloth spread over an ivory shantung base . “ Nothing is exactly a matchy-match , but it goes all together ,” she says . Seating is taking a cue from the table , as well : “ Not every chair has to be the same , but they all go with the scheme .”
Gold chargers and sequined table coverings at the Omni Scottsdale add to the glam effect .
