US $ 500M IS A LOT OF INTEREST
hotelsm . ag / SheratonPreview Marriott International has given us a taste of an updated Sheraton Hotels and Resorts , two years after acquiring the legacy brand long in need of a refresh . Marriott estimates some US $$ 500 million of owner investment is already committed by U . S . -based developers . After introducing a new guest room earlier this year , in June Marriott used the backdrop of the NYU hotel investment conference to show off the new communal lobby by building out a 4,200-square-foot vignette adjacent to the event . Now Marriott hopes it has the pieces in place to work cooperatively with owners and set this iconic brand on a new , disciplined and successful path .

IHG ' S NEW EMEAA BRAND
hotelsm . ag / IHGVoco In June , IHG launched Voco , its new upscale conversion brand for Europe , the Middle East , Asia and Africa . The company said it wants to open more than 200 Voco hotels in urban and leisure locations over the next 10 years . “ With Voco , the recent addition of Regent Hotels & Resorts in the luxury space , the launch of Avid hotels in the Americas , and the work we ’ re doing to enhance our existing brand portfolio , we ’ re making great progress with our ambitious plans to accelerate growth ,” says IHG CEO Keith Barr .
