For Soho House , the brand founded as a private members ’ club for those in the creative industries , a new location always begins with the right space . For Soho House Chicago , which includes a 40-room hotel , the group chose an industrial warehouse dating back to 1907 , and Soho House Global Design Director Vicky Charles confirms the in-house design team preserved many of the building ’ s original elements . Charles describes the property ’ s overall design aesthetic as a “ mix between rough and glamour ,” a combination evident in the Cowshed spa , which has a rural , barn-like feel to deliver a warm , earthy experience .
