I think mass media has a big partake into the misunderstanding of news and gossip. As you read in the previous page gossip is misinformation or rumors spread amongst a group of people. And news is information about factual events. Mass media has a lot to do with the delivery and how someone can receive a certain message. The way information is presented also relies on how one interprets and understands information. Shows like “TMZ” rely on gossip, so you couldn’t get information about your government or expect of half of the topics they talk about on the show or radio to be true. If one can know the difference between gossip and news that could help with how we participate socially in this world to either one. Also, finding good reliable sources. Like I said before any kind of information can be interpreted differently and something that’s factual can turn into gossip down the line. We need to start being more educated on the things on around us by paying attention to our surroundings.
