We all have between 50,000-70,000 thoughts per day , this means between 35 and 48 thoughts per minute , 2100 thoughts per hour . According to some research about 98 percent are exactly the same as the day before . That would explain a lot , we are creatures of habit . We are creating the same stress on the body as the day before without really paying any attention to what is going on . For example , when I get stressed or tense , my right shoulder hikes up . I have started to become conscious of this and put my shoulder down numerous times per day . One small step at a time .
With all the thinking going on , what chance do we have to fully breathe , feel , and experience life ? The crowded mind makes for a crowded heart . A quiet mind makes for an available heart . Time to embrace silence .
When we are not so full of thoughts - especially those directed at our own body - other parts of us can now surface . We can find more laughter , joy , and kindness . Especially the thoughts that are directed at our own bodies .
There is always hope . The ancient yogis discovered that there is a way to silence the mind to let the heart but we have heard . As we have come very far from the life that was available 2500 years ago when yoga was discovered . Let ’ s leave technology aside for a small amount of time per day and go back to our basic 5 senses . We ’ re tuning into the body , one sense at a time .
