We all have between 50,000-70,000 thoughts per day, this means between 35 and 48 thoughts per minute, 2100 thoughts per hour. According to some research about 98 percent are exactly the same as the day before. That would explain a lot, we are creatures of habit. We are creating the same stress on the body as the day before without really paying any attention to what is going on. For example, when I get stressed or tense, my right shoulder hikes up. I have started to become conscious of this and put my shoulder down numerous times per day. One small step at a time.
With all the thinking going on, what chance do we have to fully breathe, feel, and experience life? The crowded mind makes for a crowded heart. A quiet mind makes for an available heart. Time to embrace silence.
When we are not so full of thoughts- especially those directed at our own body- other parts of us can now surface. We can find more laughter, joy, and kindness. Especially the thoughts that are directed at our own bodies.
There is always hope. The ancient yogis discovered that there is a way to silence the mind to let the heart but we have heard. As we have come very far from the life that was available 2500 years ago when yoga was discovered. Let’ s leave technology aside for a small amount of time per day and go back to our basic 5 senses. We’ re tuning into the body, one sense at a time.
The first step in the Body Tune method is to fill ourselves with the“ energy of breath.” Find a friend to follow up with, and accountability will come naturally, making you and your team more successful.
