The wonderful f low of photography, video,
music and words is common on screens today.
The images and sounds are comprised of digital
building blocks that travel to meet our senses
through microchips and computer code on
portable electronic devices. Yep, it is gobble-de-
guk, but it’s important. As outdoor writers, good story-telling is our
business. There are stories to tell, moments
to share, issues to report on. Each of these has
a new direction today. Many outdoor writers
are losing their hard copy newspaper and hard
copy magazine jobs around the country. It has
become common news.
As viewers and users there is little need to
know about the inside of the hardware, or
complex codes that enable the message on the
screen. The message is simple enough. The
viewers get it. In fact, they get it so well that
they are on to the next message lickety-split. To share a tip about tying a knot with words is
a tough task. Using video makes it easier, we all
can agree.Visual images with audio make things
easy to see, hear, and do.
Sharing a tip, a trip, or a friendly joke is simple
It can be achieved right from our cellphone,
video camera, or video app on our cellphone.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a
video with words might be worth a thousand
pictures.
An otherwise protracted and steep learning
curve of “how-to-do” shortens and f latens
