A member of VERITAS had business connections with a local event supplier with the equipment required; as a result a discounted price for hire of £100 was achieved instead of £200-300.
As the venue had worked with the university before, they were willing to provide a discounted price for room hire and included the use of the bar for free. By keeping the costs low, it was possible to improve financial ratios. Had it been known that the event would not attract the forecasted amount of attendees, the venue could've been changed to a smaller room, or been held in a local pub/bar to make the room feel fuller, however this would've meant that the unique twist on a race night would not have been achieved.
A JustGiving page was set up, allowing people to donate even if they were unable to attend the event. In total £135 was achieved, which could've been increased if this form of fundraising had been marketed more.
