helped launch a two-year School of Church Planting, in which we identify key regional leaders, cast vision, and hold church planting boot camps.
Since 2016, the team has seen:
4,232 leaders trained.
889 churches planted.
Partnerships formed with more than 15 networks( denominations).
This year, the partner ministry plans to lead 10 church planting schools nationwide in which at least 450 church planters will be trained. This will result in 450 new house churches in villages without a Gospel presence.
Southeast Asia is still recovering from the devastating effects of decades of civil war and mass genocide. Generations later, the country still bears the marks of that trauma. During these challenging years, the nation’ s entire identity was obliterated, an enormous generation gap emerged, and the country plummeted into a dark age.
Ninety-five percent of the people adhere to the national religion, Theravada Buddhism. However, many also practice a blend of animism, ancestral worship, and Hinduism, resulting in tangible spiritual heaviness and darkness. Christianity remains a minority religion, representing less than three percent of the population.
In Colossians 1:27, Paul shares our hope when he says,“ Christ in you, the hope of glory.” The hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is truly the only thing that will transform this region.
We give thanks that, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 16:9, a“ wide door for effective work,” is open, and we feel the weight of working“ while it is day,” as Jesus said in John 9:4. We also thank God that the people of this country are generally receptive to the Gospel. Other incredible gifts and character traits of the people are their resilience, determination to rise, and uniquely young population— so therein lies our hope: equipping and raising up tomorrow’ s leaders, discipling them to know Christ, the hope of glory, so they can in turn carry out the Great Commission.
