Future Adventures of the Greater Bay Area

My dad is a theoretical physicist. He leads a project of developing space-time shuttles in addition to
quantum physics, parallel universe and sleek theory.
Dad told me, ‘According to Einstein's general theory of relativity and Steven Hawking's parallel universe
theory, energy, space and time can be transformed into one another. As long as there is enough energy, we
can traverse from one time to another, one universe to another. The space-time shuttle is our gateway to
the future.’
After more than two years of hard work, the machine has now come to the experimental stage, but Dad
has not found enough energy for it yet. It can only stay on the lawn in my yard quietly.
This machine has a crystal clear display, the shell is filled with shiny metal antennas, likes a thorny
hedgehog. I am eagerly looking forward to the time it can get enough energy.
Tonight’s Night News specially reporting that the nine cities in the southern part of Guangdong
Province, plus two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao, will form the Greater Bay Area
to start a GBA development plan. Bringing together the most distinctive technology in the Pearl River
Delta region, the best business environment in Hong Kong and the best restaurants in Macao, the region
will become the best in business environment and technology by 2100...
The thing I looked forward most is the mouth-watering Cantonese cuisine! It would be wonderful if the
machine can take me to the Greater Bay Area in 2100!
The news is still broadcasting, but my upper eyelids and lower eyelids begin to fight... Suddenly an orange
light appears, and it constantly rotates and change, like a beam of light. Then, some words are displaying on
the machine: BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED!
I open the door and walk in the machine without hesitation. ‘Master, please have a seat. Let us take you
to the Greater Bay Area in 2100!’ The electronic speakers sound more exciting than me.
After the slightly vibration, I can feel that my body is floating. Suddenly, the speaker announces with a
crisp sound, ‘it is your destination.’
‘Hello! Welcome to the Greater Bay Area in the 22nd century!’ A child comes to me. ‘My name is
Xiaoqiang. I am a AI robot sent by the Greater Bay government to greet our visitors.’ To my surprise, I do
not know that Xiaoqiang is a robot if he doesn’t say so.
Xiaoqiang turns around and we walk out the visitor centre. I am shock to find that there are only a few
pedestrians on the street, no car, not even a motorway. I cannot see any traffic congestion that has made us
the most headache in the past.
Xiaoqiang reads my doubts and explains, ‘In the Great Bay Area, we have used the efficient pipeline
transportation system instead of the inefficient ground transportation train system. Can you see the pipelines
that are erected in the air?’ Following Xiaoqiang's fingers, I saw pipes of various colors laid on the criss
crossing viaducts between the high-rise buildings.
‘Different lengths, representing different speeds of stroke, short pipes represent slow, long pipes represent
fast, the fastest speed is even faster than supersonic aircraft.’ Xiaoqiang said.
‘This is really as amazing as the Sun Wukong’s magic cloud in the tales of Journey to the West!’ I praise
sincerely for the first time.
‘Strange!’ I look around and see a building surrounded by a glass curtain wall. There seem to be a lot of
delicious food inside. I walk towards the glass door.
When I walk closer to the door, blue light shines through the glass, which scares me. Xiaoqiang explains
to me that this is a face recognition system. Whenever anyone walks near the door, it will scan his/her face
automatically. If he/she is a good person, he/she can walk in and take the goods home. Money will then be
deducted automatically from his/her e-wallet bank account. If he/she is a person with low integrity, the
door will not be opened for him/her.
‘Xiaoqiang, the business environment in the Great Bay Area sounds great! The legal system has been
closely integrated with highly developed technology!’ I praise sincerely for the second time.
‘Yeah, the AI machine police officers are patrolling among the streets of the Great Bay Area. They are
made of nano titanium metal. Not only the materials are bulletproof, but they are also very durable. AI
machine police officers can work for more than 100 years. Their computers are connected to the Public
Security Big Data Center through 6G network. They can immediately identify criminals in the crowd and
capture them by scanning with VR scanner.’ Xiaoqiang introduce proudly.
