Future Adventures of the Greater Bay Area

It’s a cold and foggy morning in the Greater Bay Area. I peeped through the window by my right
side and see the busy and bustling city. It's already eight o'clock in the morning. I can estimate the time I
arrive at school, thanks to the world’s best high-speed rail system. I head out with my dad and we split ways
since my school is in Macao and his office is in Guangzhou. I reached the station and boarded the train. It
takes just 30 mins to reach Macau! It zoomed through the rail in lightning speed. I remember it was not the
case a few years back.
While I was sitting on the train, I overheard a group of people talking about the advantages and
other benefits of the Greater Bay Area. “ Now there is no visa required to travel to HK - Macau and
Guangdong. You know there are many teachers, doctors and professionals who work in the mainland area
and vice-versa. This flexibility allows people to have more access to the tourist attractions which they never
had access to. Many people now got good medical facilities which improved the healthcare system. The new
teachers and professionals definitely helped to improve the education and it started adding more job
opportunities within the Greater Bay Area”. I think they are right.
The train stopped and the passengers got up to exit the train. I got out of the train and could not
see the Macau Tower, no Bungee jumpers today. Oh yeah, there had been an air quality warning in the
news headlines for the past few days. I am sure the situation has improved significantly in recent years as the
Greater Bay Area authorities have put very strict rules against pollution.
While I was walking to school, I was thinking the Greater Bay Area is an exemplary idea because it
has already contributed to the social and economic growth of the cities involved. As envisioned by the
authorities, I feel it is truly a cluster of world-class cities for work, life and leisure.
