Siloam Springs continues to shine

Marc Hayot / Herald-Leader Despite the threat of bad weather Siloam Springs residents and visitors packed the Dogwood Festival in April .
Siloam Springs continues its upward trajectory by adding new businesses and officials work to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors as growth pours into Northwest Arkansas .
Siloam Springs saw many businesses open in the past year , and the city had a wide range of activities and events to delight all .
The Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce held the Dogwood Festival in
April , hosted a large number of ribbon cuttings , helped new business owners obtain business licenses and continued work with the Western Benton County Partnership to help Siloam Springs and other communities along the Arkansas 59 corridor .
John Brown University had a recordbreaking freshman class , was ranked as the No . 1 college in Arkansas by the Wall Street Journal and welcomed a new choral director .
The Siloam Springs School District opened a new athletic complex and district administration building and implemented a new science curriculum .

The city approved 108 business licenses as of May 21 , including SportClips and Wienerschnitzel .
