B"H The sun possesses so many of the characteristics of the Ho ly One, it could be easily misidentified as the Creator of the Universe. I can further imagine that such mythical beliefs circulate in the minds of anyone who ever looked at the sun; wanted to be nourished directly from pure energy therefrom e manating. Do we not reinforce our image of the unity in creation by attributing human characteristics or character traits to being s with specia l powers that influence events, ergo the behavior of angels (such as accompany one fro m the house of worship to his Shabbos table) - a being structurally construed out of the spirit of majesty and possessed of eternal purpose? The Judaic response to idol worship need not deflect other people's belief system nor provide defense of its own. Ancient strictures were mapped out by the Jewis h scholars; to give people a means to wean themselves fro m paga n practices. Jewish survival is enough for those of us who worship Hashem to provide the light of Torah to the nations ; there is a place for Judais m in the world , and it seems that we have our work cut out for us to prove its worth to humankind. Even as this data is being conte mplated, we are unaware of such as may be never known; the human brain is mentative only where measurable dimensions in terms of perceptible quantities are calculated. The human mind has no physiological appa ratus to co mprehend Omnificence, the hydrogen ato m is as close to it as one can get. Omnificence dwells in a realm of super-conscious adherence to religious or otherwise viable historical articulat ion of the unknown; to give people identification within themselves about the propriety of their wisdo m, to be faithfully incorporated into the collective reality-consciousness of one's own human culture.
