ASK the EXPERTS ROB MATWICK Texas Rangers Executive Vice President, Business Operations The City of Arlington's Office of Communication recently talked to Rob Matwick, Texas Rangers Executive Vice President, Business Operations, for the latest episode of Ask the Experts on MyArlingtonTV, a quarterly program about the progress being made at the future Globe Life Field in The American Dream City. Matwick now plays a primary role in overseeing the development and construction of Globe Life Field. He joined the Rangers in 2008 and has been responsible for handling Globe Life Park facilities, event and ballpark operations, security, parking, concessions, merchandising and management of the centerfield office. Matwick was promoted to his current role in 2014, which added oversight responsibilities for business operations, communications, shipping and receiving, information technology and finance. The Rangers executive was recognized by Major League Baseball with the Robert O. Fishel Award for Public Relations Excellence in 2001, was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005, and in 2012 was named MLB Professional of the Year by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security. HOME PLATE'S NEW HOME Following the conclusion of the Rangers 2019 season finale next door, home plate was dug from the sandy dirt of the Rangers' home since 1994. 6 The same home plate that has been home to 2,081 regular season games and 25 monumental postseason games was then paraded around Globe Life Park in front of cheerful Rangers' fans, and into the depths of its new permanent home, Globe Life Field. Mayor Jeff Williams and former City of Arlington Mayor Richard Greene joined Rangers Co-Chairman Ray Davis, along with Rangers' co- chairmen Neil Leibman and Bob Simpson to install home plate into its new home.
