Being a developing country Kenya has its shares of issues . Some major ones include the lack of employment opportunities for the youth and the lack of skill set needed to start a business . To meet these challenges Sote Hub whose mission is to Grow start-ups from rural towns in Kenya has made a positive impact on these communities .
Over the last four years , Sote Hub has managed to support over 250 SMEs and created over 800 jobs in sectors that include Blue Economy , Rural Economies , Agriculture Fast Moving Consumer Goods ( FMCG ) and Conservation Climate solutions .
|
Using digital technology , Sote Hub trains youthful entrepreneurs in rural areas ( often marginalized with fewer opportunities for career progression or technology ) on jobs and career preparedness ; supports them to establish start-ups where they create products / services and test with real customers . |
Sote Hub competitively selects 10-15 start-ups annually for incubation where they support their further growth . The start-ups learn to code , create a business in a lean way and embrace digital fabrication .
They equally match graduates with jobs and provide career information including CV writing , interviews , and office skills . So far the institution has worked with MSMEs with over 60 % women-led and provided job / internship matching opportunities to youth .
