Wandaz Home and Travel , is part of a group , that was established in 2008 , having begun as a sole proprietor . We are in Travel and alternative accommodation , engineering , sanitation and branding and I lead our travel and accommodation department .
The travel business has been my biggest achievement . At the inception of the SGR train , there was a lot of skepticism . A lot stemmed from a lack of knowledge and a boost of the election year environment . In that , I saw a glaring opportunity . I shared it with my partner and commenced . I began writing what I called the SGR chronicles . I took a return ride on the train 3 days after the launch . It was an experience to behold , not only because it was significantly different from the old train , but also the engagement that many first time travelers had . Many had not used the old train . The chronicles went viral . I was engaged by Kenya Railways as a source of constructive feedback . A radio station also had me for one of their shows , to shed light on the experience .
The networks that came with the chronicles , set the stage for the commencement of the travel business . I began capitalizing on these networks to create awareness , of our commencement . The response was overwhelming . We secured a 7 seater van by God ’ s grace . A missionary couple were selling and allowed us a payment plan . In May 2019 , I made the maiden trip to transfer clients to and from the station , and we have never stopped rolling those wheels . I was the first driver for a month . It was a great feeling , seeing the satisfaction on the customer ’ s faces . The great exposure got me on the team at SGR Mombasa , which liaises with Kenya Railways on the improvement of the station as the Chairperson .
