Our school Concert Band had a very successful year in 2022 . We gained many new talented instrumentalists both senior and junior and our weekly practices meant we had a plethora of pieces to perform . At our school music festival this year , we performed “ Baba Yetu ” - a combined piece with the choirs , “ The Mandalorian ” and the tricky “ Malaguena ”. At the Lindisfarne Band Competition this year , we received a gold award and Best School Performance for our programme which consisted of “ The Mandalorian ”, “ Baba Yetu ”, “ Seven Nation Army ”, “ Malaguena ” and the extra stage band special “ Careless Whisper ”. This year has been a great way to send off some of our Year 13 members who have been in the band since Year 9 !
Thank you to Mr and Mrs Cargill for all the effort and time you both put into supporting the band . We wouldn ’ t have had such a great year if it wasn ’ t for Mr Cargill ’ s conducting and Mrs Cargill ’ s contributions ! You both make Concert Band such a fun part of the music department , thank you for all you do .
