This year , five teams were entered in the Term 1 Hawke ’ s Bay Secondary Schools Tennis Competition ; three A grade teams who played on Monday afterschool , and two B grade teams who played on Tuesdays . Both grades were mixed and had teams of four to six players . While the impact of Covid-19 still presented some challenges it was wonderful to see our players represent HNHS in the Hawke ’ s Bay competition . Their reliability , and positive approach to games made it a pleasure to manage and coordinate the teams . Special congratulations need to go to the Senior B and Junior B teams who were placed second in their respective competitions . Team members were :
Senior B – Harriet White , Ben Snee , Daniel Cunningham , Adam Gardner
Junior B – Erika Krogseter , Ella Rodriguez , Sam Wansbrough , Micah Tarry , Matt Vital , Truett Crim
The other teams can also be proud of their efforts . The Junior A team were placed 4th in their competition , while the Senior A1 and A2 teams were placed 5th and 6th respectively . It was disappointing that the Tawa Exchange , and Derek Ward Secondary School Tennis Tournament , which were both scheduled to be played for March , could not go ahead this year due to further disruptions from the Covid-19 pandemic . However , it is pleasing that HNHS has one A grade , and one B grade team entered in the Term 4 Hawke ’ s Bay Junior Secondary School Competition which started in the last week of October . On a different note , I would like to thank the parents who have provided transport and supported our players over the course of 2022 . Without your help our students would be unable to represent HNHS in inter-school competitions .
