The 1st XI girls hockey team had an exciting season and a great tournament week . It was a high achievement for the girls to come away with only two losses from the entire season against top sides . The team also had many highlights with many prominent wins , 7-0 against Woodford House 2XI and 8-0 against Napier Girls ’ Colts , both being very memorable games . The girls ’ team culture on and off the turf grew very quickly after a slow start to the season and the team ’ s skill level stepped up immensely over the season . After many , many draws and nail biting games against Hastings Girls ’ top side , this led to facing them again in the final .
The developing young team finished 2nd in Division 2 , just losing 3-2 to Hastings . This team had four players , from a mixture of year levels , achieve hat-tricks within the season which helped the team have the highest goal difference in the division despite the final outcome . We look forward to next season as we hope to keep growing this team and play in Division 1 hockey next year to enhance our abilities even further against Hawke ’ s Bay ’ s top sides .
