got involved and participated had loads of fun . We are extremely proud of those who joined in enthusiastically and tried their absolute best . It is an amazing experience to watch your house gather together and know that everyone is just as pumped and excited as you are . Being part of that sea of yellow , chanting and cheering your heart out , encouraging others to do their best and feeling that spirit wash over you is an experience you will never forget .
Despite having missed the Year 13 camp , we didn ’ t miss the opportunity to test who the best house was amongst the Year 13 ’ s during many of our fun and interactive encompass activities . We competed with each other in multiple events such as the wheel barrow challenge , gumboot toss and Kapa Haka - in which Tainui placed first . It was an excellent way to encourage the spirit of healthy competition . Despite our best efforts for the Year 13 shield we just missed the mark , placing 2nd . However , no ranking compares to the memories created watching the house come together as a well-knit group . All we hope is for the passion and excitement we brought to these events to be passed on to next year ' s Year 13s - our future leaders . Let ' s bring home that shield !
As previously mentioned , the trials experienced in 2022 called for a little experimenting concerning developing new house activities we could all participate in safely . These included events such as the ' Interhouse top ten challenge ', which consisted of 10 different form-time challenges . This event was great due to its versatility . You didn ’ t need to be particularly sporty , cultural or academic , you just needed to be able to work well as a team and that worked out well for Tainu House . Other events included ; house basketball , and house volleyball - which our senior girl ' s team played excellently in ; house dodgeball , and house ' Masterchef ' - which was an exciting and successful event for Tainui . The house quiz and lastly , the army challenge , which pushed the limits of our team efforts for the better .
Sadly , we didn ’ t win this year , but , despite that , we couldn ’ t be happier with the upturn in participation and involvement . Looking back on how our year has gone makes us realise that it is not all about the patu . It ’ s about giving things a go and trying your hardest . That
17 is exactly what Tainui House is all about . Even with the many challenges this year brought , we could not be more proud of Tainui House and the perseverance and effort we have demonstrated .
As the Tainui House Leaders of 2022 , we would like to thank everyone in Tainui who took part in the house events this year . Your effort and involvement are what keep this house running . We would like to thank all the form teachers in Tainui House and the form tutor Mr Lloyd for the important roles they play in making sure that our students are on track , encouraging them to participate in house events or even helping them with personal endeavours . All of your hard work behind the scenes is very much appreciated . Lastly , we would like to give a huge thank you to the Tainui Head of House Mr Bradshaw for his incredible support , leadership and expert guidance throughout the year . He has put so much effort into motivating Tainui House to be the best possible team , putting us one step closer towards the Patu . Finally , to all the present and future students of Tainui House ; we wish you all the best . Have fun , get involved , try new things and most importantly , make some memories that will last a lifetime .
