It was an outstanding year of cross country for the school team . The first event was the ECNISS relay which occurred at Anderson Park . The senior boys team dominated , with Karsen Vesty , Cameron Potts , Lorcan Rabbitte and Toby Evans narrowly missing the record in winning . The senior girls , junior girls , Year 9 girls and Year 9 boys all finished second . Sofia Lumbreras broke the senior lap record on her leg . It was off to Gisborne for the ECNISS champs and once again the team picked up two titles . Karsen and Sofia won their senior grades comfortably , with the senior boys team easily winning both the three man and six man competition . The Year 9 girls team also featured well in the teams race , second in both the three and six person races . The school cross country champions were decided on this race and they were Karsen and Sofia ( senior ), Oscar Holm and Molly Simon ( junior ) and Micah Tarry and Amy Nicoll ( Year 9 ). A team of 16 headed for Hawera to take part in the NZSS cross country champs . In horrible conditions including wind , rain or sleet , the senior boys were again outstanding , finishing 5th in the six man and 6th in the three man competition . When you consider that they finished in front of schools with reputations such as Nelson College , St Peters ( Akld ), NPBHS , CBHS , Tauranga Boys , St Bedes , PNBHS , Akld Grammar , Sacred Heart , Rathkeale , Napier BHS , St Pats Silverstream and Kings . Imagine our 1st XV beating those schools ! The Year 9 team also excelled , finishing 4th in both the three and six person competitions . Individually , Amy Nicoll produced the star performance , finishing 14th . The senior boys had three runners in the top 40 in the 200 strong field , with Karsen Vesty doing best in 24th . Sofia Lumbreras finished 21st in senior girls . Unfortunately , the ECNISS road race was cancelled this year , as was the Round the Lake relay in Whanganui , the Ekiden around Lake Rotorua and NZSS road race due to Covid lockdowns , curtailing the season earlier than normal .
