To kick off the year , the Sports Committee set up a basketball game in conjunction with the Cultural Committee and Special Needs Unit . This was to attract attention to a member of the Special Needs Unit who has had his sight set on being a DJ . The event was a success with many teams entering in the 3v3 and engaging in a friendly competition to win the grand prize of chocolate . A big problem we faced this year was that the students of HNHS are notorious for stealing Geoff ’ s sports equipment . So to make his life easier we made up a roster to keep track of every ball leaving his office . While the roster itself isn ’ t being used as much due to Geoff ’ s diligence , and moving the equipment beneath his desk , we have reduced the number of balls missing which we take as a huge success .
A big part of our role as the Sports Committee is giving recognition to the high achieving athletes at our school . This is such a humbling role to read out the names of our fellow students and watch them receive the badges and respect they deserve .
This term we are setting up a big soccer tournament for the year groups . We want to see the years battle it out for bragging rights , the honour and the pride of being the best year group for soccer . This will hopefully be carried out in the last full week of term .
