Academic success is something that all students should strive for throughout their schooling career . Setting personal goals and putting the best foot forward to achieve them - despite unfortunate circumstances caused by Covid-19 - is crucial during students ’ high school years . The Academic Committee at HNHS aims to help our peers to reach their full academic potential .
By offering peer tutoring , we hope to provide students with the help they need to gain better understanding of their subjects , and to be awarded the best grades possible . This time learning from senior students with particular passions for the subjects they tutor can be very beneficial , as teachers have large classes , so are seldom able to teach one on one . Obviously , the pandemic brought tutoring to a halt shortly after it began , but we hope the lockdown doesn ’ t discourage students from trying their hardest .
Furthermore , by acknowledging the awesome academic achievements of students in academic assemblies , we hope to motivate students to achieve to the best of their abilities . We get it ; global pandemics can drain away motivation ! But we urge our peers to bear in mind that results and studying well still matter . Gaining university entrance , collecting sufficient excellence credits in Year 12 to apply for certain scholarships and having the best education possible to use in future jobs are all reasons to not get discouraged .
