Awards for Citizenship Charlotte McLagan : Lattey Family Prize for the student who best typifies the school motto ‘ aim to excel ’. “ Charlotte has made a very impressive contribution to the life of our school across a wide range of areas , most notably by her outstanding sporting performance and her academic achievements . She is well known for her friendly nature and her humble attitude . Charlotte has also been a valued member of the Sports Committee and as the Miro House deputy leader .” Frances Ebbett-Watt : Craig Foss Cup for the student who has made a significant contribution to a school committee . “ Frances is described as well organised and encouraging of others . As a co-leader of the School Services Committee these attributes were self-evident .” Chloe Rogers : Craig Foss Cup for the student who has made a significant contribution to a school committee . “ Chloe , along with her co-leader of the School Services Committee , worked tirelessly in the organisation of the ball and leavers dinner . She is seen as inclusive and supportive of others .” Caitlin Hedge : Ron Shakespeare Trophy for the student who has contributed to the community . “ Caitlin is a sincere , highly-motivated and utterly reliable young woman . More importantly Caitlin is community focussed . She is significantly involved in the St John ’ s Youth Cadets , is part of our Community Services Committee , Show Quest director , Rata House Leader and this year earned a Lions Club Young Achievers Award .” Victoria Stobart : Kohatu Humarie Award for the student who contributes to harmony within the school . “ Victoria is a positive , caring and humble student . She has been an excellent representative of our school in the capacity of student International Ambassador last year and as a member of the youth council this year .”

Flynn Dunkerley : Staff Prize : “ Flynn can regard his time here as a wonderful success . He is a charming , thoughtful , reliable and approachable young man who is popular with , and respected by , both staff and peers . He is extremely generous with his time and expertise , and his contributions to the school have been greatly appreciated . Flynn is a natural leader with the talent , confidence and maturity to be able to relate to all people . He is always prepared to help and is the first to put others ’ needs before his own .” Rogan Ross : Staff Prize : “ Rogan is an active and effective contributor to our school culture . Because he is inclusive , respectful and sets high standards for himself , he is an example to others . In form class , and particularly with house activities he has displayed excellent leadership skills including the Year 9 / 13 Encompass programme which involved providing support and leadership for junior students . Rogan is respected by both his peer group and his teachers .” Emilie Horsfall : Whittaker Prize : “ Emilie has demonstrated her commendable citizenship by attending community events . Her teachers have always valued her commitment and willingness to participate , which has helped to ensure the success of the many activities she has been involved in . Emilie sets herself , and meets , very high standards . She is a mature , articulate and intelligent young woman , who has a social conscience and is not averse to engaging in challenging conversations or expressing her viewpoint . In this Emilie has been an outstanding example to all students .” Adam Engelke : John Kneebone Memorial Lions Award : “ During his time here at Havelock North High School Adam has contributed greatly to the life of our school . His commitment to our community has been very evident in his leadership of Tainui House where he is a constant example to others in the way he relates to both teachers and peers alike , his significant organisational skills and the way he has managed to do this along side his own personal sporting endeavours and academic studies .” Rubie Rainger : Child on a Swing Award : “ Calm and caring by nature , Rubie interacts in a respectful fashion and is supportive and considerate of those around her . She is inclusive and one of Rubie ’ s many assets is her ability to listen and inspire other students . A well-liked student , Rubie is respected by both her teachers and peers .”
Awards for Outstanding Leadership
Alex van Oeveren : King Award : “ Alex is an excellent leader . He is organised , enthusiastic and completely selfless . He was destined to take up a leadership role in Rata House from a fairly young age and his house has benefited greatly by the skills he has brought to that role . A good leader is willing to listen to others and go beyond their comfort zone . Alex has done that with courage and determination . Alex is the ultimate team player and his dedication and commitment has enriched Havelock North High School .” Holly Renwick : Rei Hamon Cup : “ Holly is an exceptional student and young leader . She is unfailingly polite and respectful . Holly is a natural leader in that she is encouraging and tactful . She is a great example to younger and less motivated students , demonstrating the benefits of being well organised and enthusiastic . As one of the leaders of Tainui House , a member of Forum and the Cultural Committee she has show initiative and superb skills in event management She is well-liked and respected by her peers and we thank her for her service to our school .” Rosemary Yorke : Foundation Award for Head Girl : “ Rosemary has been an exceptional Head Girl and representative of the Havelock North High School community this year . She has always modelled the work habits of a successful student and developed her capacity as a young and emerging leader . Rosemary is widely recognised as a kind , caring and thoughtful young woman . She has made a significant contribution to all aspects of school life and we can think of no better role model for the younger students of Havelock North High School . We thank her for the contribution she has made to our school as Head Girl 2021 .” Munya Marufu : Foundation Award for Head Boy : “ Munya is a charismatic young man who has made a notable contribution to the school community as Head Boy 2021 . His infectious laugh and ability to relate to a wide range of people have made him a highly valued member of the leadership team . Munya is articulate and confident in addressing issues . To his credit , he also models the behaviours he encourages in others , particularly in regard to respecting diversity , treating others with kindness and inclusion . Munya supports and encourages others and this has had a considerable impact on the culture of our school this year . We thank him for his contribution to Havelock North High School as Head Boy 2021 .”
