Showquest Onscreen 2021 : “ We Shouldn ’ t Be Here ”
Year 13 drama student Emily Wright , took on the challenge of directing and producing the school ’ s entry for the Showquest Onscreen competition . The film involved a talented group of students from all year levels and was based on the theme “ We Shouldn ’ t Be Here .”
The well-crafted and compelling film was a coming of age / horror hybrid about overcoming anxiety and facing your fears . This is a pertinent and positive message for young people who are experiencing a great deal of stress due to the global pandemic .
With the deadline for the competition extended due to the Covid-19 lockdown at the time of writing this article , the entry had been submitted but had not been judged . However , the students are already winners due to their perseverance in completing a quality film given the difficult circumstances .
