The first half of 2021 provided a lull between two Covid storms for the drama department and certainly proved productive . Rehearsals and set building for the major production dominated Term 1 , but we were also able to enter the annual Sheilah Winn Shakespeare festival with our Year 13 duo of Pia McPhail and Max Buller , who did us proud .
Term 2 saw the triumph that was Oliver ! fill our stage , despite the second stage of the auditorium ’ s refurbishment being delayed 18 months by the pandemic . The establishment of HEAT – Havelock Extension Acting Troupe – followed the show , allowing many of our most enthusiastic performers to continue working together .

Term 3 saw the disruption of a second lockdown , but our students returned ready to perform their delayed assessments . The announcement of another production scheduled for Term 1 of next year – Sweeney Todd – has given our many aspiring performers something to look forward to , with auditions taking place early in Term 4 .
