Finely chop the onion. Add a little oil to
a saucepan and gently cook the onion
until softened, trying not to brown it. This
should take about 10 minutes. Add a large
pinch of salt and pepper to the minced
beef, add the egg and then the softened
onion. Mix together (best done with your
hands, so long as they are clean).
Divide into 6 round shapes and pat them
down to flatten them. Fry your burgers in a
little oil in a large frying pan with the heat
on medium for about 5 minutes on each
side. Be careful not to turn them over too
soon or else the middle will not be cooked
through.
To serve: slice the cheddar cheese, red
onion and tomato and stack the burgers
and all the other ingredients into your
buns. Add crispy fries and tomato sauce
on the side and enjoy.
