Donating my Hair to the the START YOUR NEW YEAR The Little Princess Trust was started in 2006 in memory of 5 year-old Hannah Tarplee who sadly lost her battle with cancer. The charity provides wigs for young people up to the age of 24 who have lost their hair either through cancer or a trauma. For over a year now I’ve been indecisive about drastically cutting my hair. I wanted a change but was nervous I wouldn’t like short hair having always had my hair long (since it started growing of course). LIMESCALE FREE! It’s easy with a Kinetico Water Softener The Little Princess Trust accept donations of real hair over 7”/17 cm long. I hadn’t realised that the girls who are given the wigs can be up to the age of 24! I’m only 23 myself and couldn’t imagine life without my hair. The thought of me being able to donate some of mine to someone else who might be the same age as me really gave me the courage to go for it! Each real hair wig costs the charity around £500 to create. Around 10 hair donations are required to make a single wig. This means along with my 9” of hair they still need another 9 people to donate their hair to make one wig! The Trust has created and given away over 5,500 wigs so far. I’ve written this article in the hope that I will inspire others to do the same as me and donate their long hair to bring some happiness to people who aren’t fortunate enough to have hair like ours. call 01628 788819 or visit loveyourwater.co.uk www.littleprincesses.org.uk
