I had a lovely telephone call from a lady called Gwyneth recently. Gwyneth told me she is a huge fan of this magazine and especially likes reading all about Holtspur School’s Gardening Club (well done to Laura Barton and her little team) and she enjoys the capers of the Cat Sitter (well done to Chris Pascoe). However Gwyneth explained that most of all in the January edition she enjoyed reading about the Beaconsfield Registration Service and their plans for a Wedding Fair. These comments made me realise that I have achieved what I set out to achieve and that is to produce a monthly magazine that has lots of local interest for you, the readers. Thank you Gwyneth for such lovely feedback. Our distribution team is growing in numbers, if you see them out delivering please stop to say Hello, or should I say Hiya! They too tell me that often, when walking up a garden path, they are met by the householder who smiles and says “ooh thank you, I look forward to receiving my monthly copy of Hiya”. Our monthly competition seems to be a real hit with you all too. Thank you everyone for entering and I’m sorry you can’t all be winners. Congratulations to Deborah Holland for winning the vacuum cleaner, courtesy of Fields Domestic Appliance Specialists. See page 6 for this month’s prize. Congratulations also go to the students and teachers at Bourne End Academy who put on a “West End worthy” production of We Will Rock You just before Christmas. It really was a spectacular show and we excitedly look forward to the next production. See the full review on page 12. Finally, Spring must be on the horizon. It’s great to have the Gardening Angel’s articles back to tempt us into our gardens once again. Whatever you are doing this month, stay safe.
