Here at Hiya Bucks we love
nothing more than supporting
independent businesses,
especially ones based in
Buckinghamshire. When we
heard about the Waddesdon
Artisan Market we just knew
we had to visit.
Luckily for us, and the stallholders, the first market
of the season was greeted by glorious sunshine.
The market was bustling with happy shoppers all
keen to taste the produce of these wonderful local
producers.
A stall that really caught our eye was Posh Pesto,
based in Winslow near Milton Keynes. Chatting to
owners Mark and Tammy, they told us this pesto
has personality, it’s made with fresh ingredients,
and lots of love. We opted for the Kale, Pistachio
and Honey pesto which tastes amazing.
Next came Pasture Farm Juice, based in Longwick. Using apples from their own orchards, and ones
supplied by customers, they have a variety of flavours to choose from. They provide a complete,
bespoke fruit pressing service, pressing, pasteurising & bottling apples and pears in to healthy, natural
juice. That was our second purchase.
Chiltern Natural Foods are based in High Wycombe. We purchased a selection of breakfast granolas,
including some gluten free ones. Boarstall Meats were perhaps the most local producer to Waddesdon
being based just down the road in Brill. Their selection of lamb,
beef, pork and poultry looked very tempting.
We won’t bore you with detailing all of our purchases. Needless
to say, we thoroughly enjoyed walking around and sampling
local produce and we highly recommend planning a visit to this
artisan market. It takes place on the second Saturday of every
month from April until November. It is located in the grounds of
Waddesdon Manor and there is free car parking available.
Admittedly it’s quite a drive to get there, about 50 minutes from
Wooburn to Waddesdon. However the drive is very picturesque
(if you take the country route and not the M40). We had noticed
a few pubs on route so, naturally, felt the need to stop off and
quench our thirst.
We popped in to the Five Arrows Hotel which is located beside
the entrance to Waddesdon Manor. It is a beautiful building and
is gracing our Beaconsfield front cover this month. It has a lovely
landscaped garden and courtyard area with plenty of seating.
