Most policies will have an excess applicable when
you make a claim and some may include an
additional percentage of the claim.
So read the small print and wording so that you
understand what you’re paying for.
Some policies have exclusions such as conditions
your pet might have prior to the start of the policy.
It really is worth shopping around and comparing
the wording. Speak to other pet owners who have
taken out insurance and experienced making
claims for their pet.
Whichever company and policy level of cover
you choose it is well worthwhile to have your
pet microchipped and for them to be neutered.
Unwanted litters can cause a lot of distress.
One pet insurance scheme is offered by the PDSA
veterinary charity which of course benefits its
national welfare work by ploughing in the policy
profits to help needy families seeking treatment for
their pets.
